In 1972, Soshisha Ltd., a publishing company in Tokyo, began publishing Chikyu No Ueni Ikiru, the Japanese edition of Living on the Earth, translated by famed mystery writer, Mariko Fukumachi, and hand-lettered in Japanese characters to continue to the hand-lettering tradition of the original English edition.
The cover blurb was written by one of Japan's most famous living poets, Shuntaro Tanikawa. His words, translated into English: "I want to do everything in this book. Even if I can't do everything in this book, I want to dream about it, because this will make me a better person to the marrow of my bones."
Soshisha's edition has been in print continuously since 1972. Imported from Japan.
